Favorite religious clip...meme

What movie do you think of when you think of religion? Find a scene on Youtube or another video hosting site and post for everyone to see. Tag five people.

Starting at about 3:45. I see religion as something created by the masses to explain an event or persona that they don't understand. "ALL HAIL, J!" Then, the start assigning sacred messages to random and selected text. "Be kind. Rewind. Go back and reconcile your past in order to move tranquilly into your future..."

Really...it's JUST a train locker, a video card, and a watch.
I tag - whoever wants to do it.

I try not to think of religion, but The Exorcist does come to mind. ;>

I don't know if the link will work, but here's a clip from YouTube:

PM, are you starting this meme, or did you get it passed on from someone else?

Anyway, the one that came to my mind was this South Park episode:
http://www.southparkzone.com/episodes/410/Do-the-Handicapped-go-to-Hell.html

Starting at 5:18 with "Hello children, I'm Sister Anne" and ending at around 6:26 with "Then stop questioning me."

And I'll post that if you want, but you have to tag me specifically and not in a general "whoever wants to" way. :)

For me two movies come to mind.

First is "Inherit the Wind" for its demonstration, however fictionalized, of how when the religious are forced to answer questions publicly about their supernatural claims - that is, they are prohibited from plying their standard dodges of denying, redefining or obscuring the issue - they necessarily end up highlighting the absurdity of those claims.

Second is Monty Python's "Life of Brian" for its portrayal of how religions spring not from supernatural revelation but instead from the ignorances, biases, wishes, wants, desires, superstitions, and personal proclivities of those who would believe.

The mass in Monty Python's Meaning of Life. The "Oh Lord, Please Don't Burn Us" song. Although as a former Catholic school attendee, the "Every Sperm is Sacred" song gets me too. Especially because my sex education class was taught by the parish priest. It was as bad as you could imagine.

Whenever I think of religious scenes from the movies, I'm drawn again and again to "Oh Brother, Where Art Thou?". I especially love the part where they get caught up in a congregation on its way to baptism in a river. Delbert actually believes after enthusiastically getting dunked that the law can't touch him anymore for his crimes cause he's been forgiven. heh.

Kazim, I modified the meme. It was a "Let's be thankful for all of the wonderful ways God reminds us he's there by sharing our favorite religious movie clips." I changed it to suit THIS blog...and, in turn, managed to piss off the person who sent me the original meme. Oh well....

You guys are funny!! I'm loving the movies.
