Thoughts for P-Momma

Hi readers,
I'm a friend of the P-Family and I wanted to update you on an unfolding situation. P-Momma is experience a set-back in her lupus. Last week, she and her hubby struck out for the coast to visit some family and the outing was way too exhausting for PM. She came down with strep throat within 36 hours. That progressed to scarlet fever. That progressed to septicemia. Her kidneys, which were hashed in the first place, are not cooperating with the medications and she's been in and out of hospital for about a week. When she comes home, she ends up going right back. Mostly, at this juncture it's the pain that's unbearable. Her fever is managable. We're hoping to get her in the chair and poking around online tomorrow. This is why there's been little activity on her blog and no new podcast. If you guys have more questions you can contact Jack - pmandjack@yahoo.com for more information.

I should be home tonight, if you feel up to calling.

P-Momma,

Strep Throat?
Scarlet Fever?
Septicemia?

Hey, stop hogging all the illnesses! Other people might want to get sick themselves, you know.

How can they do that when you're using all the good illnesses. You're just going to have to get better and give someone else a turn.

Seriously, though...

Holy week from hell, Batman!

Really hope you start feeling better soon. We miss you.

Let's hope PM, you don't move on to the "T" diseases. Nobody wants to be around someone with typhoid.

Felt to post this again in a more proper location.

If she by chance sees this, as I just noticed the update, I hope the best for Possummomma. That she can feel better and recover. I hope all her family can overcome all related distress.

All disagreements aside, I hope pain is minimized for all involved, especially with Possummomma, through whatever means can best achieve that for all.

HiveRadical said...

An interesting thing I've heard from one in terrible agony and seemingly approaching death. They commented on how they'd never felt so alive. It's not a fun way to realize you are alive, but pain certainly is a reminder that you are still alive.

Hope you come out of it swinging. I even pray for it also.

P-Momma,
Sorry to hear of your troubles. Didn't the study about the effectiveness of prayer find that those who were prayed for actually fared a little worse? In that case I'd think your chances are pretty good ;)

Thanks for the good thoughts and warm fuzzies. I was going to try and hang out here on the 'puter for a bit, but that's just not working. I see my nephrologist in the a.m., HOPEFULLY we'll develop a plan then.

Pmomma--hope all goes well and you start feeling better soon. I fortunately haven't had to deal with kidney stones, but have several friends and family who have. (one reason I drink water like a fiend...about 100 oz/day, not everyone can do it but I hope it's a bit protective, anyway...) You are certainly often in my thoughts, and I check often to see how you are doing. Glad you were at least able to post for a little bit. Hope all goes well with the neprologist tomorrow and you start feeling more like yourself soon. My best to you and all your possums, and kudos to your husband and all who are helping keep thingd under control (wish I didn't live across the country; I'd offer to help out anyway I can)

Hi Everyone!

I spoke to P-Momma tonight and she is keeping her head up as she and her family fight through this adversity. The coordinating of all her doctors is, in and of itself, enough to make one ill. Her voice inflections were certainly more chipper tonight than they were when I had spoke to her earlier in the week. Let's hope with some decent science and all the wonderful support coming from you guys, that she can get over the hump soon rather than later.

That brings to mind the article Daniel Dennett recently wrote during his recent stay in the hospital called "Thank Goodness."

http://www.edge.org/3rd_culture/dennett06/dennett06_index.html."

If you haven't already done so, it's a must-read. That's all for now. Hope to be talking to you soon!

Jack Jackal said...

I guess I screwed the hyperlink up. Dennett's article can be found at:

I hope you are quickly recovering, Possummomma.

Here's some good news to cheer you up! I just read in Rolling Stone magazine that Zac Efron is agnostic.

“I was raised agnostic, so we never practiced religion, but my parents were very strict.”

- Actor Zac Efron (Disney Channel’s High School Musical & HSM 2), Rolling Stone, August 23, 2007, p. 41.

Okay, my 10 year old daughter was already obsessed with Zac Efron from HSM, but this news put her in orbit. She was so happy that someone she has a crush on is agnostic, and was raised that way. A famous person!

I do say, I now find myself a bit more open to constant HSM viewings now.

Here's a URL, regarding Zac Efron/Rolling Stone interview:

http://www.cpyu.org/page.aspx?id=207865

Oh, and according to another website, Amanda Bynes (most recently in the movie, Hairspray, with Zac Efron, states:

“I’m not that religious. I believe in treating people how you want to be treated.”

Enjoy and get better soon!
