Courtesy of Poodles, we have a video of Mexican witches (and the cops that fear them).
I couldn't stop giggling - First, the fact that there's a local UFO club and THEIR conclusion was that it's a witch struck me as funny. Second,... I don't know about you, but it really looks like someone had some fun with a zipline and a Hefty bag. Third- I love how they're administering, what appears to be, a field sobriety test to the police officers.
The cop: "It had a pointy hat."
Uh. Yeah. It *must* be a witch. I suggest wacking it with a wiffleball bat, repetedly, and screaming "Give us the candy! CANDY!"
*mutters and walks off* Dumbledore would've never let this happen. Cardinal rule of broom flying: Don't do it in sight of muggles!

I know it's a witch. She turned me into a newt!
........... I got better.
You're welcome. It was too precious to not share. "Gentlemen, step away from the bong."
Is this supposed to be a serious news story, or is this a joke vid? I'm confused.

They took it very seriously in Mexico. It was on the news as a "humanoid UFO". Personally, I think Officer Attackee was hitting the Tijuana Gold.
They had an ASTRONOMER look at the video? What in the world does a putative supernatural being have to do with astronomy? Why didn't they have a carpenter examine it too? Or a veterinarian? Perhaps a scuba diver? Bookbinder?
That's "Acapulco" Gold, by the way. I know, I'm an astronomer.
....Hahaha. That's awesome. I want to know who set that up.
Thanks for posting this. I really needed a giggle.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!
I wondered the same thing: "What does an astronomer have to do with the paranormal?" And, what made it even better was the fact that the "astronomer" then goes on to make the ET argument. *rolls eyes*
I actually AM an astronomer...
I know you are!! :) What does that have to do with Alcalpulco Gold? :) LOL
Huh? You got any Doritos around here?
Huh? You got any Doritos around here?
No Doritos. :( But, I think Possum#2 had some of those Fiery Cheetos of Death! Will those do?
wow. Must not have been a firebolt, that's for sure. Way too slow.
I loved that bit of X-Files music in the background. Get Mulder and Scully on this right away.
Maybe it was the Chupacabra!
Harry Potter, Chupacabra... Ye're all wrong... It was an an... angel!
*hick*
A zipline and and a hefty bag. Yup, pretty much what I thought.
[silentsanta, NZ]
If I lived in that town, I'd be procuring some dark clothing and a pointy hat right about now...
ps. Milo - God help us, we can't get Doritos in NZ, at least, nothing like this. :(
Yeah, those new flavors suck, don't they?
HA! I'm reminded of the scene in Monsters, Inc. where the eyewitnesses at Harryhausen's are describing the appearance of the child:
Witness #1: Well the kid flew right over me and blasted a car with its laser vision.
Witness #2: I tried to get away from it, but he picked me up with his mind powers and shook me like a doll.
Witness #3: [has many eyes] It's true! I saw the whole thing!
Professor on TV: It is my professional opinion that now it's the time to *panic*!
milo:
I'm a scuba diver....It's not a fish......or an eel.
I couldn't help but notice that besides the hovering, the witches didn't do anything. They're "robes" and "capes" didn't flutter, they never turned their heads, they didn't fly in anything but a straight line, the wind didn't affect their clothing, nothing. Seriously looked like solid objects on zip lines.
Hey, nice blog!
Small world, I'm from Monterrey, Mexico and I got blushed by reading your "mexican witches...ahh..vamonos!" post.
The witch incident provoked a big reaction on the local TV audience for its absurdity. A lot of people complained. What's happening to the mexican TV it's a little bit complicated to explain it on this tiny space.
Things changed a lot when the President of Televisa passed away in '97 (i believe) and his son took over the business. Changes started to be notorious around 2001 or so. Since then it has created a chain reaction in the big TV stations (televisa and TV Azteca) and the local TV stations as well, showing an increasing tendecy to sensionalim. Many people are already complaining about it.
Anyway, this is a joke about the witch issue explaining what realy happened :P Have fun! =P
